On February 16 (Tuesday), the National Assembly Budget Office held a virtual annual consultation with ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) to discuss Korea's economic issues and trends.
The consultation was attended by six members of AMRO’s annual consultation team, including Lead Economist Sumio Ishikawa and four members from NABO including Baek Kyung Yeop, the Director of Tax Analysis 2 Department, Budget Analyst Lee Kang Koo, Tax Analyst Park Youn Seo, and Economist Kim Yun Hee. The participants thoroughly discussed the prevention and recovery support in regard to the economic damage caused by COVID-19, fiscal soundness and long term fiscal outlook.
AMRO is an international organization of 10 ASEAN countries (Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines) and Korea, China, Japan, and Hong Kong, and it aims to conduct macroeconomic and financial surveillance of the region and to prevent crises. The National Assembly Budget Office has been conducting annual consultations since 2017 upon AMRO’s request.
