“The Public Institutions of the Republic of Korea” is a report published annually by the National Assembly Budget Office since 2018 to support the National Assembly’s review of public institutions. The 2026 edition provides a systematic explanation of the recent operational status of all 342 institutions and of the government's management policies and major systems related to these institutions.
The report is organized as follows:
Part 1, Understanding Public Institutions, explores the significance of public institutions, followed by a systematic overview of the historical development of Korea's public institution management systems and the major characteristics of current management policies.
Part 2, Current Status of Public Institutions, provides a summary of newly designated public institutions and analyzes key operational status, including revenues and expenditures, human resources, labor costs and welfare benefit expenses, and ESG performance. It also presents a comprehensive explanation of their financial operations, management evaluations, relocation, and overseas office status to promote readers' understanding of public institutions.
Part 3, Classification of Public Institutions by Characteristics, categorizes public institutions into government-invested institutions, institutions where differences between expenditure and revenue or losses are covered by the government, financial institutions, and other types, and provides a summary of institutions by such types.
