The National Assembly Budget Office (NABO) held it first meeting of the 8th Editorial Board for the Journal of Budget and Policy on Thursday, February 26.
The meeting marked the inauguration of the 8th Editorial Board, giving members the opportunity to introduce themselves. Under the chairmanship of newly appointed Chair Kim Chunsoon, the board discussed measures to improve the academic quality of the journal going forward. A new Journal Operations Committee was established to deliberate and decide on matters related to the editing and publication of the journal, and a Research Ethics Committee was formed to review reported cases of research misconduct. In particular, given the growing debate around the use of generative AI in academic research, the board plans to develop concrete and practical guidelines and to establish research ethics standards suited to the age of generative AI, in preparation for the manuscript review process.
The Journal of Budget and Policy is NABO's academic publication, featuring theoretical and policy papers on budget and settlement, fund management; economic analysis; tax policy; and the evaluation of major fiscal programs. It was selected as a Korea Research Foundation (KRF) registered journal in October 2018, and successfully maintained that status following a re-accreditation review in 2021.
