On January 28, 2026 (Wednesday), the National Assembly Budget Office (Chief Dong-ha Chi) held a meeting with Moody's annual consultation team.
The meeting was attended by Sim Hye-jeong, Tax Analysis Counsel at NABO, and and Anushka Shah, VP-Sr Credit Officer at Moody's, among others.
NABO and the Moody's delegation discussed the impact of U.S.-Korea trade negotiations and aging population on government spending and managed fiscal balance; fiscal headroom for boosting economic growth; spending reform measures to strengthen fiscal soundness; and medium- to long-term projections for national and public institution debt.
At the close of the meeting, VP Anushka Shah stated, "It was very meaningful to receive in-depth explanations and diverse perspectives on Korea's fiscal issues and policy directions from NABO. I look forward to continued strengthening of our cooperation in the fiscal sector through regular communication and information exchange."
