On January 26, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., the National Assembly Budget Office (NABO) presented its 2026 work plan to Speaker Woo Won-shik at the National Assembly Reception Room, alongside other National Assembly organizations.

NABO reported its 2025 achievements and outlined three priorities for 2026: ① responding to policy issues affecting citizens, ② supporting fiscal democracy, and ③ strengthening capacity through innovation and communication.

(Responding to Policy Issues Affecting Citizens) NABO will analyze causes of livelihood challenges, including social mobility across income groups; lead research on inclusive finance; and strengthen analysis on regional decline, climate crisis, and aging society.

(Supporting Fiscal Democracy) NABO will propose ways to improve future investment and livelihood programs; enhance public finance review support through earlier publication of reports; conduct deeper analysis of public institutions and tax policies; and publish timely economic reports.

(Strengthening Capacity through Innovation and Communication) NABO will use AI for research; expand field exchanges to identify real-world issues; and improve public outreach through press briefings and social media.

Speaker Won-shik Woo emphasized that "a National Assembly that protects the people and advances into the future" must deliver tangible results, not just slogans. He urged NABO to provide strong support for budget oversight to strengthen the National Assembly's fiscal control function.
