N. Korean defectors' wages are 67 pct of national average

The average wage of a North Korean defector in South Korea stands at 67 percent of what local workers in general take home each month, data by the National Assembly Budget Office (NABO) showed Sunday.

Youth employment policy gets nowhere

According to an analysis by the National Assembly Budget Office, more than 40 percent of workers who have found jobs with the help of the government are paid less than 1.5 million won in monthly wages, far higher than the corresponding figure for employees that have landed jobs on their own at 24.3 percent.

Increased calls for overhaul of taxation scheme

With the housing market showing signs of cooling down as the government has tightened regulations on mortgage loans, the revenue increase may not continue for longer.
