According to the Bank of Korea and the National Assembly Budget Office on Wednesday, based on new standards of national accounts, the operating surplus of individuals totaled 114.8 trillion won ($110.5 billion) in 2012 but self-employed individuals reported only 72.05 trillion won as their business and/or rental income to tax authorities, implying that only 62.7 percent of their actual income was exposed.
