67% of supplementary budget projects not feasible within the year

Tobacco tax revenue jumps 38% in H1

Back in March, the National Assembly Budget Office estimated that this year’s tobacco tax revenue will grow 5.5 trillion won. Parliamentary researchers predicted that the nation’s cigarette purchases would reach 3.5 billion packs, 800 million more than the government estimate.

Nearly 10% of gov’t budget was not executed last year

National Assembly Budget Office said in its report out on Monday that the central government executed a budget of 146 trillion won in the first half of 2014, but the actual spending reached 132 trillion won. The government executed 59 percent of the planned budget in the first half of last year to boost economy earlier. Early government spending is believed to help raise the country’s growth rate.
